"Firecracker Shrimp"This was the place we ate last Saturday during our Park City over-nighter.
We decided to go because we read the menu at the b&b and their "Shabu Shabu" looked fun. You order a meat and a broth and you dip and cook it yourself. We thought it would be something different.
When we got there, the waitress told us that there were much better things on the menu. So we opted for her suggestions instead. And let me tell you, that is a great way to order. We are so glad we did.
We started off with the "Firecracker Shrimp". She told us that people come from miles away just to order that. And that also, it's the only thing that hasn't changed on their menu. We thought it sounded a little boring - thinking it was popcorn shrimp or something. All I can say about it is WOW. You have to try it yourself. It's not like any breaded shrimp you've ever had. It's VERY lightly breaded, almost like it's not. And it's cooked so perfectly that you'll think to yourself, "now I know how shrimp is supposed to be cooked". It's not tough, and it's not raw, but it's just right. And it has a sweet sauce...and I can't do it justice. But we'll be back soon...just for that.
Then we moved on to our "Cashew and Pinenut crusted Goat Cheese Salad". It was as wonderful as it sounds. And you know how much I LOVE goat cheese. It was really THAT good.
I ordered the special "Blackened Cod", which isn't on the menu because it was the special, but it was FANTASTIC! It was steamed perfectly in a honey, soy glaze.
Chad had the rack of lamb that was so good!
For dessert we had the "plum sorbet", which the chef made from the plums that the owner brought in from his own tree. It was refreshing and different in a good way.
Their wine list was good. And the sake martini I had was so different and yummy! It reminded me of a mojito, but not sweet like that. Even Chad liked it and he has hated every single martini I've ever made him try.
I give Shabu a "yum yum yum yum yum"
If I like something, I tend to like it a lot. I don't do many things half-way, as most of you know. I guess that's why I'm not a real critic eh?
